Miniature Food from Polymer Clay
Do any of you make miniature food from polymer clay? Tiny bits of polymer clay (such as Fimo or Sculpey) can be used to make anything from hamburgers to cupcakes. I saw a few photos online, and this gave me the idea that making polymer clay food would be the perfect chance to add a touch of realism to my miniature settings. The examples I saw online were so realistic, they actually looked real! So I bought a few brightly colored blocks of clay, and got ready to sculpt.I can already tell it's going to be tons of fun, but I've also realized that I have a lot to learn about miniature sculpting. The problem I've been having is the unbelievably tiny scale of some of these foods. A cupcake is just 3” tall in reality – which means its height is only a quarter inch in miniature scale. I can barely see it, much less sculpt it!
I'll have a go and will tell you how I got on with making my first lot of miniature food in my next blog
