My 50's Dollhouse Kitchen
I know I promised to share photos of the bed I've outfitted with crocheted pillows and blankets, but I got sidetracked with the polymer clay experiments! Becoming frustrated with the tiny scale of clay dollhouse food, I decided to take a break from the crafting and go on a shopping spree of tiny proportions. I'm sure you've all been there – browsing the dollhouse miniatures late at night – and I'm really excited for my finds this time! It always feels like Christmas when the postman brings them to my door.I've begun stockpiling a few furnishings for an as-yet unbuilt midcentury dolls house. I think it may take the form of a kitchen roombox, since I find myself attracted to 50's diner-style doll miniatures. Though building a home in which to display them is still on my list of dollhouse projects, I can still get the thrill of buying delicious-looking apple pies and impossibly miniature canning jars full of 'fruit.' Deviled eggs and a pitcher of milk are classic 50's foods that set the table for a perfect midcentury look.
I think my grocery shopping spree was inspired by the trouble I had creating polymer clay miniatures that looked so perfectly proportioned as the tiny meals I'd spotted online. Now that I've got enough for a full holiday meal spread, I'm on the hunt for the perfect 1950s style kitchen appliances. And of course, I still haven't decided where to display all of these new doll miniatures – but what's new about that?
