How To Decorate a Doll House Kitchen Floor
I installed black and white floor tiles in my 1950s diner roombox today, and thought I'd pass along a few tips I learned along the way. First, 1" by 1" floor tiles from a home improvement store seem like a good idea for replicating the look of 12" square tiles in miniature scale, but they're too thick! . Instead, I used doll house-scale floor tiles, which are also 1" by 1" but much thinner. If you go this route, it's important to start in the center of the room and work outwards, so that the design looks symmetrical. Work out the design before you start gluing any tiles down so that you can play around with the pattern.I've also heard that pre-printed sheets of 'tile' pattern are an easy option for dollhouse flooring – just cut the whole sheet, and glue it into place. My roombox floor turned out great, and it's a technique I'll definitely be using to decorate a doll house kitchen or bathroom in the future.
