Pets for your Doll House Family

Dollhouse pets can be a great way to add realism to your dollhouse. In fact, even if you can't find the perfect doll house family to match the setting and time period, there is sure to be a fluffy critter that will look right at home. If you're choosing a pet for your doll house family, here are some considerations to keep in mind:

Your favorite breed. If you're a dog or cat lover, you probably find yourself drawn to a certain breed or color. Not a fan of fluffy pets? Consider a tiny fishbowl or a birdcage, instead.

Think about the era. Why would this matter? Different breeds or types of pets have been popular at different points in history. If you're trying to construct an authentic-looking Victorian mansion, look for a miniature lap dog. If your dollhouse is decorated for the 18th century, a Golden Retriever would be out of place – it would be another hundred years before this breed became common.

Real-life inspiration. Miniature versions of your current pets would make great additions to a dollhouse. This is also a touching way to remember a past pet.

Once you've selected a new pet for the dollhouse, be sure to add miniature pet supplies – a water bowl, pet toys, or a dog bone – to complete the scene.
