Where to place your Dollhouse Miniature Project

An important consideration is the position where you eventually want to display your finished dollhouse. Below are some points you should consider before deciding which house to purchase.

Ideally your dollhouse miniature should sit on a table or at least it should be put off the floor. This prevents your pets or young children damaging it or ruining the display.

Put your dollhouse miniature into a room where not too many people go in and out all the time. If you are living by yourself, it is perfectly ok to have your dollhouse miniature in your lounge but if you have children and grandchildren visiting all the time, I recommend you do not display your dollhouse miniature in the main living area.

If you like to display your dollhouse miniature project in an area with lots of traffic, it is a good idea to put up a glass front to prevent your dollhouse from getting dirty and dusty.

Measure the area where you want to display your house and allow for some space on both sides. Make sure it fits well into the space you allocated for it.

Dollhouses that have a front opening are more suitable for smaller spaces as they can be put against the wall. If your dollhouse miniature opens at the back you need to be able to walk around it to see it from all sides. Another alternative is to display it on a turn table.

If you haven't got much space to display your miniature, choose a house that comes in a ½ inch scale. What this means is that something that measures one foot in the real world measures only half an inch in your miniature display. The more common and popular size for dollhouse miniatures is the 1 inch scale, which means that something that measures one foot in the real world measures one inch in your miniature display
