It's Christmas Time
This year for Christmas, between our trips to the mall, stores, and shopping online, looking for the perfect gift or finding the right place to get our Christmas gift certificates, my kids and I are taking a little more time for ourselves. We decided to go to the grocery store and buy all the supplies, well, ingredients really, for a gingerbread house.
While we were getting licorice and gumdrops, Sarah commented on how nice our house looks all fixed up and asked me if we can decorate her dollhouse. I got to thinking about miniature lights and miniature wreaths and miniatures in general. So we get a little creative and string tiny colored foam beads (they were berries on a bunch of fake Christmas flowers), and hang them on the dollhouse porch, on the dollhouse staircase and even the little miniature furniture in her pretty Victorian dollhouse.
It’s a sweet thing to share like that with Sarah; she’s just really so much like I was when I was a kid with my well-loved, inexpensive doll house that was all my parents could afford. I decked its halls every year with whatever I could find and it’s kind of neat to see her being that interested in her dollhouse like that.
When you were a child, did you decorate your dollhouse for Christmas? How did you do it? What was your favorite part about it? Post a reply and let us know; we’d love to hear how you decked your dollhouse walls for the holidays!
