About Us
It’s been two years that I created The Dollhouse Company and it has been a wonderful and rewarding journey.
Since I was a kid I have been passionate about building projects. As a young child I built houses made out of cardboard, later I built plastic farms and train stations for my brother’s electric train set. I also built wooden boats and ships.
I only got into building dollhouses as an adult after my children had left home some years ago. During a visit to Germany I walked past a toy & craft shop and saw the most beautifully decorated dollhouse in the window. I instantly fell in love with it and purchased the plan as well as many furniture kit sets and accessories. I carried everything in my suitcase back home.
After I started my project I got hooked. No turning back. I’m sure you know what I mean. Buying more dollhouse kits and accessories has been very challenging for me as there are no manufacturers or shops where I live. So the only choice I saw was using the Internet. As a miniature enthusiast like you, I’m sure you agree that browsing the Internet for dollhouse kits and accessories can be very frustrating. I have found many sites that make it difficult to find the things I need but most of the time I can’t even find what I am looking for.
This was the reason that I decided two years ago to start my own online shop here on the web. During this time The Dollhouse Company has grown from being a team of ‘one’ to a team of five! There is Jim who does a wonderful job helping to ‘stack the shelves’ and improving not only the look and feel of the site but also adding functionality to improve your shopping experience. There is Katie L., who helps me with words when I can’t think of any, creates product descriptions and proof-reads and edits some of the text on our site. And there is my daughter Martina who some of you may have ‘met’ already, who is helping me with fulfilling orders and dealing with our customers and suppliers. And just recently another Katie joined our ‘family’. Katie M. Is passionate about dollhouses and miniatures and will be providing tips and hints as well as looking after our blog and help you with any questions you may have.
My aim has always been to provide you, my visitor and customer, not only with the best selection and quality of dollhouse kits and accessories but also with an unforgettable shopping and customer service experience.
